R.E.C.E.S.S., Are You Ready to Play or Not?

Updated: Sep 3, 2020

Life as a college student is quite simple, you just have to be able to master time with these 5 things...

We all know that time is that one thing that you can’t get back. It’s something that you’re always told that you have to maximize it’s use or it will slip away. For those of you in school it may often feel like the words “Do you have time” is a curse word. Well have you tried the R.E.C.E.S.S. strategy? R.E.C.E.S.S. is an acronym that stands for:

Relax(Free Time) - Although it says relax, this not what you use all of this time for, your free time does give you the ability to relax, but this time is also used for you to complete any of your extra-curricular activities.

Eat - It’s important that you eat all of your meals and on a regular basis, skipping a meal is detrimental to your not only your health, but also your energy which is the fuel that keeps you going.

Class - Going to class makes up a small percentage of your week, but it’s one of the most important activities because you have to be present in class in order to obtain the knowledge that you need to graduate.

Evolve - Evolve is something that gradually happens to you everyday. Stay on a positive path and make sure that you’re evolving in a good way.

Sleep - Not just as college students, but as human beings, we often underestimate the value of a good night’s rest. As a young adult it’s important to get 7-9 hours of rest every night.

Study - If you want to be great, you have to put the work in and it starts with building and maintaining great study habits.

These are the 6 main things that college students have to focus on day in and day. If you have your weekly schedule built out properly you will always be prepared to answer that curse word that we mentioned earlier “Do you have time”. Planning your weekly schedule will allow you to not only know that you have time but it will also help you to see where the time you have is available for you to do whatever needs to be done.

If you are constantly struggling to meet deadlines, then you’re more likely headed to detention versus going to RECESS. Get organized with your schedule so that you can prosper as an student. I’m able to prove to you that if you organize your weekly schedule, that you can take back control of your time and complete everything that needs to get done, just by being proactive, determined, and willing to work. Are you ready to go to R.E.C.E.S.S.? Well download the spreadsheet from the link on our Resources page and get your schedule organized so that you can master your time.
